In 2026, it is is going to be all about JOMO - the JOY OFMISSING OUT.
Because mortgage brokers don't need to be everywhere to win new business.

Get The Joy of Missing Out It’s easy for mortgage brokers to feel they should be doing more marketing. Especially when you get emails from me giving you tips after tips!!
Do you do more posts on social media? After all you hear of the success other brokers have with this? Do you create more videos. More commenting, sharing and showing up — because everyone else seems to be doing it.
For some brokers, social media genuinely works.
But for many, it quietly becomes another thing on the to-do list that eats time without delivering much back.
This is where JOMO comes in: the Joy of Missing Out.
JOMO is Doing What Works for YOU
For mortgage brokers, JOMO isn’t about ignoring marketing altogether. It’s about choosing not to chase every tactic, especially when the basics are already sitting right in front of you.
Most brokers don’t lack opportunity. They’re surrounded by it.
Existing clients who will need to remortggae, for example.
Happy clients who are willing to refer you.
Past clients who drifted away, not because they were unhappy, but because life got busy. But ones you could win back.
These are often the most profitable, time-efficient opportunities available. And yet they’re the ones most easily overlooked while attention is pulled towards likes, views and algorithms.
Do What is Right
Social media can be a great tool. But it isn’t the only route to growth — and it doesn’t have to be the starting point.
For many brokers, there’s more joy (and less pressure) in focusing on relationships they’ve already earned.
A simple JOMO question to ask:If I spent the same amount of time nurturing existing clients and referrals as I do creating content, where would the next case come from?
JOMO is about doing the right thing.
Because in a market built on trust and relationships, the brokers who win aren’t always the loudest — they’re the most consistent, present and remembered.
